This vintage wedding in Monterey at the historic Old Whaling Station was all things charming, elegant, and whimsical. The intimate venue sits in the heart of old town Monterey among other lovingly restored historic adobes. Its beautifully restored front hides a carefully tended garden in the rear making it a perfect location for couples to say “I do.”
The blush and ivory roses were just the right hues to let Elizabeth and Jonathan’s vintage wedding details filled with nods to beloved family emerge and the beauty of the historic garden shine through.
Truly a charming vintage wedding for a charming couple.
THE LOVE STORY
Jonathan and Liz met online and struck up a beautiful friendship emailing back and forth. Liz loved Jonathan’s clever sense of humor and deep, thoughtful questions online and when they finally did meet, they were struck by how much they had in common in person. Ironically, despite meeting online they bonded over their shared lack of social media accounts.
Liz had a beautiful, classic style and we worked on bringing that vintage style into each component of their wedding. With blush and white garden roses and gold accents, the Old Whaling Stations historic gardens provided the perfect backdrop.
OUR FAVORITE THINGS
A focal point of this wedding was the beautiful cake by Layers Sensational Cakes with the truly vintage cake topper. This sweet, old fashioned cake topper adorned her mother’s and her grandmother’s cake at their weddings. What a treasure! Notice the beautifully framed heritage pictures of these events right next to her cake.
Jonathan brought his personality with custom brewed Root Beer in an amazing personalized mini wooden keg!
One of the most touching parts of this vintage wedding was learning that Elizabeth’s dad was very sick and in the hospital. Despite every effort to be there he simply couldn’t. Thankfully, technology came to the rescue in the form of a family member’s phone. Dad was able to watch his daughter get married from the front row!
However, the best part of this wedding came when Elizabeth and Jonathan’s friends arranged a surprise dance flash mob for them. This would have been fun in and of itself but this was a couple that almost did not hire a DJ because they truly didn’t think anyone would dance!
There may have been tears from more than one individual at this vintage wedding, but it was simply friends and family
